Swift & Bold Concert at the Royal Albert Hall
Friends of Halstan and some staff attended the Swift & Bold concert at the Royal Albert Hall, sharing in the celebration of 200 years of history and achievements of The Rifles from the Battle of Salamanca to today's operations in Afghanistan. The Massed Bands and Bugles comprised of the Band of The Rifles, the two TA bands of 6 & 7 Rifles and the two cadet bands from Durham and Somerset, the Pipes of the Brigade of Gurkhas and the Fijian Choir – approx. 250 musicians and buglers in total. Special guests included Wynn Evans a magnificent tenor who is also known for a certain annoying TV add, the musical genius that is Alastair Caplain who is one of the bright young violinists and all was presented superbly by Alistair Stewart (OBE). Music Direction was in the capable hands of Major Lawrence Sale.
Our Chairman, Chris Smith commented “it was an honour and a privilege to print the programmes for the event and we were delighted the event was a success. A concert like this truly demonstrates the good music can do in promoting good causes and none more so deserving than the Care for Casualties Appeal, supporting injured and lost Rifleman and their families”
The concert was a resounding success and a thoroughly good evening was enjoyed by all.
